Former FC Barcelona presidential candidate Victor Font has once again voiced his concerns about the club’s management, urging a complete restructuring to align with modern football’s demands.
Speaking at an event titled El Barça que somiem (The Barça We Dream Of), Font was critical of the current board under Joan Laporta, particularly regarding the club’s direction and handling of its legacy.
Font emphasised the need to honour and integrate legendary figures such as Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, Carles Puyol, and Pep Guardiola back into the club.
He stressed that Barcelona should not be controlled by a select few but should remain a club for all its fans.
According to him, the majority of supporters do not want to see their relationship with Messi severed.
Instead, the Argentine should return to play a vital role in making Barcelona stronger, rather than being left disconnected from the club’s future.

“The majority of the club’s social mass does not want relations with the best player in the club’s history to be broken. Messi must return to the club and play a role that makes Barça bigger.
“Busquets, Puyol, Guardiola must be able to return to the club. Because the club belongs to all the Cules, and it is not the club of those in charge and their friends and family,” he began saying.
Beyond sporting matters, Font also raised serious concerns about Barcelona’s financial state.
With a debt of €1.3 billion, he warned that if drastic changes are not made, the club risks jeopardising the future of its current generation of players.
“If things are not done right, we can put this unique generation of players at risk. We have a debt of 1.3 billion that needs to be reversed. We present an alternative to the way the club has been managed for the last 48 years.”
While Font does not believe “Laporta wants to change the ownership model of the club”, he warned that “his malpractice could end up putting the model at risk, because if you don’t take care of your health, you end up getting sick.”
With Barcelona’s future at a critical juncture, Font’s remarks serve as yet another call for a re-evaluation of the club’s structure.
Whether his vision gains traction or not, his criticism highlights growing concerns about the club’s financial and institutional stability under the current leadership.
