Former Barcelona star Sergio Agüero has today revealed his take that Blaugrana starlet Lamine Yamal boasts superior ability to Real Madrid star and Ballon d’Or favourite Vinícius Jr.
Wide-man Lamine, for his part, is of course in the midst of nothing short of a superb start to the new campaign.
Across starts in all but one of Barcelona’s 13 fixtures across all competitions, the 17-year-old has directly contributed to 12 goals.
10 such contributions have come in 10 La Liga appearances, across which Lamine has wreaked havoc on opposing backlines from his berth on the right flank.
Despite his tender years, the Barca youth product is quickly making a name for himself as not only one of world football’s best youngsters, but best players full stop.
So much so that, in the eyes of the aforementioned Sergio Agüero, Lamine should be considered as being more ‘talented’ than Real Madrid counterpart Vinícius Jr.
Speaking in an interview with Mundo Deportivo this week, ex-Barcelona striker Agüero was drawn on the respective abilities of two of La Liga’s leading stars.
And the Argentine went on to respond:
”In terms of playing style, speaking of talent, Lamine has many more things than Vinicius, although the latter has more experience and is a better player with the titles he won with Madrid. Vinicius is one of the ‘top 3’ in the world, but due to age and talent, I prefer Lamine more. If it were up to me, I would have one on each side of my team and let the opponent pray. It’s like when Messi and Neymar were together. Vinicius now has Mbappé at Madrid, but he is more of a ‘9’ and does not have Vinicius’ talent.”
