Atlanta United goalkeeper Brad Guzan has hinted that former Chivas number one Raúl Gudiño is almost certain to join the club.
Gudiño left the Flock after the Clausura when his contract ran out and there was no deal made for an extension.
Atlanta have been on the lookout for an experienced stopper after achilles surgery in April effectively ruled Guzan out of the rest of the season.
Speaking to ESPN on Sunday, the 37-year-old stopped just short of confirming that Gudiño would be linking up with The Five Stripes.
“I don’t know if anything has been announced, but if someone walks through those doors…,” Guzan said.
Bobby Shuttleworth had replaced Guzan in the Atlanta starting line-up, but was dropped on Sunday as youngster Rocco Ríos Novo came in and kept a clean sheet in the 2-0 win over Inter Miami.
Gudiño spoke recently about his plans for life after his departure from Los Rojiblancos.
“We left Chivas hurt as it is and everything, but in the end I think I’m at a stage in my career where I want to aspire to new challenges, new goals and hopefully it will happen soon,” he told TUDN.
The 26-year-old, who has made five senior appearances for Mexico, will no doubt be hoping he can force his way back into the El Tri squad ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.
