Fiorentina striker Moise Kean is delivering as never before in Serie A, and former Viola and Italy star Luca Toni believes that feeling the ‘love’ of his club and having a coach who ‘values’ him are the key to his brilliant start to the season.

The ex-Juventus forward has already broken his record for most Serie A goals in a single season by netting nine times in his side’s first 12 games, as he had reached his previous best tally at Juventus by scoring six nets both in 2018-2019 and 2022-2023.

Moreover, he scored in four consecutive matches in a top-five European league only for the second time in his career, and former Fiorentina idol Toni claimed all of this indicates that Kean is finally aware he can be ‘an important striker’.

Toni: Kean has found a club who love him in Fiorentina

“How beautiful this Fiorentina are,” Toni told Radio Serie A, as quoted by Tuttomercatoweb.

“They’re doing something extraordinary, and they’ve found a player like Kean, who has realised he can be an important striker.

“Kean has found a club that know how to love him, that take care of him, and a coach who values him. But now, we shouldn’t put too much pressure on him.

“Kean has understood that he needs to be an important striker, he needed nurturing, and then he was smart enough to make the leap in quality.

“Because something has to click inside you, and for him, something important clicked. All players need nurturing; when a player feels the trust of the coach, the club, and the fans, he gives his best.

“The problem arises when the first criticisms come, and you’re no longer pampered: at that point, you need to be strong and continue to be an important player.”

Toni played for three seasons at Fiorentina across two different stints, scoring 55 Serie A goals in total from 94 appearances.

Kean was instrumental in firing the Viola into fourth in Serie A, level on 28 points with Atalanta, Inter and Lazio, and just one behind leaders Napoli.
