Legendary former Real Madrid and Juventus coach Fabio Capello believes that Inter Milan and AC Milan have “opposite states of mind” heading into the derby.

Capello analyzes this evening’s match in an editorial in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

This evening, Inter and Milan face off in the first of two derby matches of the Serie A season.

The Nerazzurri come into the match without having lost a match in Serie A. But they have drawn twice, having to settle for a point away to both Genoa and Monza.

Meanwhile, the Rossoneri have gotten their league campaign off to an extremely shaky start.

Last weekend Milan beat Venezia 4-0. But prior to the international break it was three matches without a win.

The Rossoneri drew with Torino, lost to Parma, and drew with Lazio.

Meanwhile, both Inter and Milan faced Premier League opposition in midweek to kick off their respective Champions League campaigns. With very different results.

Inter managed a draw with Manchester City, away from home no less.

Milan, on the other hand, were playing at the San Siro but looked thoroughly second best against Liverpool.

Capello: “Inter & AC Milan In Opposite States Of Mind” Heading Into Derby

Former Milan and England coach Capello writes that “Inter and Milan are in almost opposite states of mind.”

“Inzaghi’s team are fresh from a great performance in Manchester,” he noted.

“Meanwhile, the Rossoneri are struggling.”

“And as I understand it, Fonseca’s job is already at risk,” Capello adds.

“Put it like this,” the legendary former coach writes. “It’s clear that Milan are the underdogs, and the Nerazzurri the favourites.”

“However, let’s be careful not to be presumptuous,” he continues.

“Inter cannot let their focus waver.”

Capello makes clear that “Milan are always Milan, and the derby is always the derby.”
