Piotr Zielinski will take the place of Kristjan Asllani in holding midfield in today’s Serie A clash between Lecce and Inter Milan.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter have been dealing with a major absence over the last few weeks in the form of Hakan Calhanoglu.
Calhanoglu is the usual first-choice starter in holding midfield for the Nerazzurri.
However, the Turkish international has been on the sidelines with a calf problem.
Hakan Calhanoglu should be back soon. He could be available for Wednesday’s Champions League outing against Monaco, and then be back at his best for next week’s derby against AC Milan.
In the meantime, though, Inter have had to do without Calhanoglu.
Over the last few matches, Kristjan Asllani has had a run of starts in holding midfield.

There have certainly been some struggles for the Albanian.
However, Asllani has also put in convincing performances against the likes of Venezia, Empoli, and Sparta Prague.
Asllani is the main backup for Calhanoglu in the Inter squad.
However, Piotr Zielinski has also shown that he can play at the base of midfield. The Pole did so most notable in a Serie A clash with Juventus in October.
And according to the Corriere, that is where Zielinski will start this evening.
