Zielinski was not part of the Inter squad for the Serie A opener against Genoa yesterday.

The Polejoined Inter on a free transfer over the summer. He made the switch after his contract with Napoli expired at the end of June.

And Zielinski has been part of Inter’s preseason training camp nearly since the start.

The Polish international was a relatively early returnee. This was due to his national side exiting the Euros at the group stage.

And there were some very positive signs from Zielinski in Inter’s first couple friendly matches.

The 30-year-old looked to be fitting in well at his new team.

However, Zielinski then sustained a thigh strain. He has spent the past couple weeks recovering from that injury.

There had been some hope that Zielinski could even return in time for yesterday evening’s Serie A opener.

The Pole has already made a return to training.

The recovery process was a fairly swift one for Zielinski.

However, the former Napoli midfielder has yet to really regain match sharpness. Therefore, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi decided against risking him against Genoa.

But Zielinski is for all intents and purposes fit now. He has recovered from the thigh strain.

Therefore, there is no doubt that Zielinski will be able to be part of the squad for next weekend’s home opener against Lecce.

Sky report that Zielinski has been in training today. The same is true of defender Stefan de Vrij, who is a little further away from a recovery.

Meanwhile, the rest of the squad has been given the day off by Inzaghi following yesterday’s match.
