Former Roma youth product Marco D’Alessandro, who’s currently with Serie B side Catanzaro, shared memories of his debut for the Giallorossi and offered thoughts on Claudio Ranieri’s return.
“I feel so bad for De Rossi,” D’Alessandro, 33, told gianlucadimarzio.com. “Because I think it was a mistake to let him go, but I’m confident Ranieri will set things right.”
The attacker also reflected on his 2009 debut with the Giallorossi.
“It’s an unforgettable memory. Roma was going through a difficult period, and Spalletti spoke to me after training, hinting that I might get some opportunities during the game,” he recollected.
“The match didn’t go well in terms of the result, but I was the only happy person in the dressing room. I had just made my Serie A debut with my boyhood club.”
He added, “My favorite memories? I hold dear the goal I scored against Roma because it’s the team I support, and the emotions were obviously very, very strong.”
“Then there’s the goal against Inter. I feel bad for Spalletti as he gave me my Serie A debut, and then I ended up scoring against him as an opponent.”
