Former Scottish top-flight star Tam McManus has hit out at Celtic for low-balling Norwich City for Adam Idah and has reminded them of the John McGinn fiasco.

The Scottish champions saw their £4m plus add-ons bid being rejected by Norwich earlier this week, with the Canaries not keen to sell and valuing Idah at significantly higher.

Though they are expected to make another move for the player, McManus warned them about what he sees as poor transfer tactics that could end up backfiring.

He went on to reflect on Celtic’s failure to land McGinn, who despite being a lifelong Celtic fan, eventually joined Aston Villa after they managed to assemble the required £2.5m fee.

“Why do Celtic continue to low ball teams for players?” McManus wrote on X.

“Have they learned nothing from the John McGinn fiasco?

The 43-year-old believes that Idah might eventually end up at another club capable of paying £6m to Norwich if Celtic continue to penny pinch.

“Someone will offer £6m and get him. Penny pinching again.”

Idah enjoyed an impressive six-month loan spell at Celtic from Norwich, finishing with eleven goal contributions in 19 matches overall.
