Manchester United and Tottenham are embroiled in a direct battle for the services of OGC Nice star Evann Guessand.

The 23-year-old was born in Ajaccio and initially represented the French national team on several youth levels, before making his senior debut for his country of origin, the Ivory Coast, last June.

The striker started his career at Nice and rose through the club’s ranks to become a member of the first team in 2020. He then had two loan spells with Lausanne-Sport and Nantes, before rejoining Nice’s ranks in 2023.

This season, the young attacker has taken his game up a notch, cementing himself as one of the best rising young stars in Ligue 1. He has thus far scored 11 goals in the league and provided his teammates with seven assists.

According to sources close to Stretty News, Man United have been keeping a close eye on the player. The club’s scouts have been impressed by the player’s physical strength, his technical skills and his eye for goal. Therefore, he might prove to be an update on the underwhelming Rasmus Hojlund.

However, the Red Devils aren’t the only Premier League side that is Guessand’s heels, as West Ham are also mentioned as a possible destination, and above all, Spurs, who are also seeking attacking reinforcement.

Our sources believe a final decision on the player’s future has yet to be taken, but Nice are unlikely to maintain the player for another year. The French side will likely cash in on the striker who will command a transfer fee between €35m and €40m.

So while Guessand isn’t exactly a cheap solution, he can be considered a cheaper alternative for the likes of Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen who will cost transfer fees in the region of €70 million, figures that the club might struggle to fork out, especially if they miss out on the Champions League.
