It proved to be an ideal setting at Villa Park as Jimmy Shan's under-18 Aston Villa side earned a 3-1 win over Manchester City and with it the FA Youth Cup final victory. In moments like this, a lot can happen. What started off shaky in the beginning resulted in a silverware triumph.

Sam Proctor is a large reason why Villa were in this position in the first place. His penalty saves in the semi-final paved the way for the young Villans to be in this position in the first place. The keeper had an early misplay, however, that saw the visiting City side grab an early 1-0 lead.

At all levels, a mistake that directly leads to an error so early on can sometimes cause things to unravel. Instead, Villa maintained their composure, and only a few minutes later equalized off a corner from TJ Carroll. It was then game on, as Cole Brannigan gave Villa the lead through a beautiful volley in the upper left corner.

Set pieces proved to be a major advantage for the young Villans throughout the match. They converted their chances from them. Their opening goal was directly off one, and Brannigan's strike came off a clearance from a City clearance from a corner play.

For a lot of the match, the Manchester side looked to control possession and break down the home team. Naturally, the backline had their moments. For the most part, the hosts proved very difficult to breakdown and the attack of the visitors could not fully materialize.

Then on the counter, urged on by the strong support of well over 25,000 supporters, they always looked threatening to put the match out of hand. In the second half, that third goal did just that. Dribbling from the right-hand side, Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba produced another stunner with his shot that found the bottom left of the net.

City tried to grab one back late, but the efforts of Teddy Bloomfield played a huge hand in ensuring that the two-goal lead was preserved. The full-time whistle echoed through VP, and the likes of Morgan Rogers and Jacob Ramsey were seen celebrating on the pitch with the newly crowned FA Youth Cup champions.
