Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Kyogo is set to leave Celtic in the coming days. The Italian journalist has updated supporters following heavy links that the Japanese hitman would be making the move to France but it is not good news for Celtic fans.
Speaking on Twitter, Romano confirmed that the player would be leaving in a deal ‘in excess of €10m’ after Jorgi Sampaoli confirmed the rumours were true.
There have been further links that Celtic could receive Jota as part of the deal and the fact that Romano has revised the figure quoted last night by Le Parisien of €12m, could reflect a deal being done to include the 25-year-old. That particular aspect remains to be seen.
Kyogo was signed in the summer of 2021 and was one of Ange Postecoglou’s most trusted lieutenants as he helped wrestle the title off Rangers after the COVID season. The former Vissel Kobe attacker scored 85 goals in 165 games for Celtic as well as earning 19 assists. Kyogo leaves Celtic with three Premiership titles, three League Cups and two Scottish Cups, reflecting Celtic’s dominance over the last few years.
It appeared that the player was looking for a new challenge when he changed his agents a year after signing a longterm deal. At 30, Celtic have sought to cash in on the player as he looks to take the next step in his career.
