Paris Saint-Germain was linked to Napoli standout Victor Osimhen all summer transfer window. Despite the rumors of a potential arrival in the French capital, the Nigerian remained with the Italian side, and now that relationship is strained.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, there’s still a possibility that Osimhen could end up in Saudi Arabia, especially after Chelsea didn’t strike a deal for the player. On Friday, their delegation left Napoli without an agreement, and the player’s future is in limbo.

In his latest Daily Briefing column for CaughtOffside, Romano said he couldn’t predict what would happen with Osimhen’s future. Chelsea tried hard to secure a deal, but it didn’t come through this time.

Now, it’s uncertain whether Osimhen will regret how this whole saga unfolded, as he could be stuck at Napoli without playing until January.

“A Chelsea delegation had been in Italy trying to reach an agreement with Osimhen – they spent a long time working to reach an agreement with the player,” Romano said. “There were several add-ons and bonuses to make their proposal higher, whilst keeping in line with Financial Fair Play, but their proposal still wasn’t close to the €11-12m net salary of Osimhen at Napoli.

“I think in the end Chelsea made five or six proposals, and one final one at 10 pm, but again it was not even close, and so the deal collapsed. The final crucial point is that Osimhen is now out of the Napoli project for this season.”

L’ÉQUIPE also reported that some at PSG were interested in going after Osimhen, particularly after Gonçalo Ramos’ injury.

However, the club ultimately decided against it, with the French outlet noting that Luis Enrique wasn’t in favor of the move, believing that Osimhen didn’t align with his vision and style.
