Famara Diedhiou reveals stance on Bristol City after 2021 depature | OneFootball

Former Bristol City striker Famara Diedhiou has revealed he will be a “Robin all days” despite leaving the Championship club in 2021.

The Senegal international spent four years with City – bagging 51 goals in 169 appearances and emerging as a popular figure at Ashton Gate.

Diedhiou’s exit may have left a slightly bitter taste in the mouth of some supporters as he ran down his contract before leaving as a free agent in Nigel Pearson’s first summer in charge but the 29-year-old holds no ill feelings toward his former club.

In fact, Diedhiou took to Twitter yesterday to reveal he remains a Robin some 15 months after leaving Bs3.

The striker outlined his pride at being profiled by the South West club as part of their Black History Month celebrations, tweeting: “Robin one day Robin all days”.

Diedhiou joined Turkish Super Lig side Alanyaspor on a free transfer in 2021 and bagged 13 goals in 29 appearances last term but has featured just once in 2022/23.

The Verdict

City fans will absolutely love this response from Diedhiou, who clearly enjoyed his time at Ashton Gate and still holds the club in very high regard.

Most will have forgiven him for his part in the frustrating way he left and judging by the response to his latest message, it seems some supporters would be open to him returning.

You have to think that the 29-year-old would enjoy playing in the current Robins side, who are joint-top scorers in the Championship and have been described by some as the second tier’s agents of chaos.

That’s a tag that would fit the Senegal international well.
