Having started their 2024/25 League One season well, the Terriers are looking to bolster their forward line and are looking at a January deal for the striker.

Pundit, Carlton Palmer, believes that the signing of Taylor would be a significant piece of business for Huddersfield and has urged them to take a risk on the striker.

Although the transfer window is now closed for permanent deals, Huddersfield have wasted no time in identifying their January targets as they aim for League One promotion.

The Terriers suffered relegation from the Championship last season, but are early favourites for a return, with the likes of Wrexham, Charlton Athletic and Birmingham City all going strong.

Palmer believes that there is a firm chance that Luton would be willing to depart with Taylor, given the fierce competition for places in the forward areas at Kenilworth Road.

"There is now a chance they will let him go," Palmer exclusively told Football League World.

"Huddersfield Town are very hopeful that they can conclude a deal to sign Joe Taylor, the centre-forward from Luton Town, for a figure of £2m.

"Huddersfield were in for the player in the summer but were unable to finalise a deal with Luton Town, not sure which players they were going to keep and which players they would have to lose having been relegated from the Premier League.

"It is believed that a figure of £2m now might be agreed with Luton Town. Having several players like Adebayo, like Carlton Morris and Cauley Woodrow available, there is now a chance they will let him go."

For a fee of £2m, Palmer urged Huddersfield to take a gamble on the 21-year-old, highlighting his success in the EFL as a reason to buy the striker.

Having not played for the Hatters in the Premier League, Taylor was sent out on loan to Colchester United and Lincoln City, where he made a significant impact on the pitch for both clubs.

Considering his goal tally for both EFL sides, it is no surprise that he has caught the eye of League One Huddersfield.

"He didn’t play in the Premier League, but he went out on loan where he did very, very well. He played 27 appearances for Colchester with 12 goals and two assists. He made 19 appearances for Lincoln, registering 10 goals and three assists.

"I think that this would be a fantastic signing. Relatively little money in £2m, and when you’re looking at the likes of Wrexham, Charlton, Stockport, Birmingham, Barnsley, all vying for promotion.

"You’re going to have to take a chance on whether the player can step up and do it in that league.

"I think it’s a very, very good signing for Huddersfield, who have got off to a good start to the season, and it’s a great addition to their squad."

As reported by Alan Nixon, Huddersfield are hopeful of a £2m January deal for Luton's Joe Taylor.

Having spent last season on loan at Colchester and Lincoln, the striker bagged 21 league goals across League One and League Two.
