Rowett has admitted that the Coventry job is an eye-catching one for him, as he continues to try and find a way back into management.
Gary Rowett has admitted that the Coventry City job is an attractive one for him.
Speaking in an interview with Give Me Sport, Rowett hinted that he would be open to taking the top job at the Coventry Building Society Arena, having spent a considerable amount of time out of the game.
The 50-year-old has a fairly impressive CV, doing very well at Burton Albion and Birmingham City and being sacked very harshly at St Andrew's.
He has also had spells at Derby County and Stoke City - and took charge of Millwall back in October 2019.
During his time at The Den, he was unable to guide the Lions to a top-six finish, but he still did a fairly good job there and lasted four years in the English capital.
Rowett most recently took charge of Birmingham, stepping in as an interim replacement for Mike Dodds during the latter stages of last term during what was a turbulent season for Blues.
Despite a 2-1 win against Norwich City on the final day of the 2024/25 campaign, he was unable to prevent them from being relegated, and he now finds himself out of work again.
With the CV he has, it may only be a matter of time before he's back in the game, and there are a number of jobs that could be up for grabs for him in the Championship and League One.
A replacement for Mark Robins at Coventry is required following the 54-year-old's surprise exit.
The Sky Blues may have struggled this season, but Robins did an exceptional job at the CBS Arena. It remains to be seen who will replace him.
Rowett, who has managed a number of Midlands clubs in the past and has spent much of his life there, has admitted that this job is an attractive one.
He told Give Me Sport: "I have an agent who does the work for me and contacts clubs who have a vacancy. I’m running out of Midlands clubs!
"But what I would say is that Coventry is a big club. Coventry would be a fantastically attractive club for any Championship manager.
"And Burton Albion is another one. I have been there before and helped them out."
Despite their league position, Coventry have an exceptional squad and arguably one that's worthy of competing for promotion.
They need to ensure they have a solid starting goalkeeper who can be reliable and retain their starting spot - and they have a number of options to pick from in that area.
The central midfield area is a clear issue though - and this area will need to be looked at in January if they want to push on and progress.
Even with this problem in mind, it's definitely a job that's worth taking, with many of their players clearly able to thrive at this level.
