Daniel Farke says he remains confident Leeds will win promotion to the Premier League despite Burnley overtaking them in the Championship promotion race.

Leeds could only manage a 1-1 draw with struggling Luton Town while Burnley beat play-off chasing Coventry 2-1.

Leaders Sheffield United, meanwhile, suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to Oxford United.

It means Burnley jump up to first from third, two points ahead of Leeds in third and a point ahead of Sheffield United who are second. Only the top two go up automatically with places three to six entering the play-offs.

Isaiah Jones gave Luton an early lead against Leeds before Dan James equalised, and Tottenham loanee Manor Solomon missed a huge chance to win it for the Whites late on.

Burnley, meanwhile, had a Jaidon Anthony double to thank for their win, coming from behind after Haji Wright’s early opener.

But despite his Leeds side suffering a blow in the Championship promotion race, Farke remained upbeat, especially with Burnley and Sheffield United still to face each other.

“Because they [still have to] play against each other it’s still in our hands I think,” he said.

“We can’t influence what happens on other pitches. You just have to concentrate on yourself and this is important.

“I would have preferred three points today, it would have made life easier but I have to judge what I see. I liked our spirit and togetherness.

“It’s definitely one point gained. Never underestimate a point on the road against a side fighting with the knife between the teeth.”

Burnley boss Scott Parker, meanwhile, was delighted with the mentality shown by his players in their comeback victory.

“We were only sitting here last week with a 1-0 swing in this game, these games always turn out to be like that and at that point, any coach sitting here saying that it’s tactical, or it’s technical, you just need to roll sleeves up and you need to go to places and dig,” he said.

“For the majority of this year this team and these players have got that really, and that makes me very proud of them.

“We need to try and win as many games as we can and I thought the overall game today had a bit of everything. When we had to show our quality at times, we showed our quality with some nice bits.”
