Fernandez impresses but Woodman disappoints: Preston North End player ratings as Lilywhites share points with Luton Town | OneFootball

Preston North End snapped their five-match losing streak at home in Championship action as they came from behind against Luton Town to salvage a 1-1 draw.

The Hatters missed several first half chances to go ahead, and then just minutes after the second half began Ben Whiteman was sent off for North End for a tackle on Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu.

The visitors finally made the man advantage pay on 73 minutes when Carlton Morris’ header crept over the line, but their lead lasted for just eight minutes as Troy Parrott grabbed an equaliser from the penalty spot for 10-man PNE.

Freddie Woodman – 5

Kicking was poor throughout the night and failed to command his box very well, albeit against some physical opposition. Has had better games.

Jordan Storey – 6

Average night for Storey who didn’t do much to impress but also didn’t do much to disappoint. Put his body on the line for a few blocks in the box.

Greg Cunningham – 6

Had a tough night in store against a physical striker in Adebayo but aside from a few chances he more-than held up to him. May have done enough to keep his place.

Andrew Hughes – 5

Mixed game for the Welshman. Went down softly under an Adebayo challenge in the first half which he really should have scored from and also was beaten to the ball by Morris for Luton’s goal, but then clipped a ball into Parrott’s path which led to the penalty.

Brad Potts – 5

Didn’t offer much in an attacking sense down the right but was solid enough defensively. Didn’t let Bell have to much freedom on the attack as a wing-back.

Alan Browne – 6

Back to his natural position and he looked energetic in midfield. Didn’t make things happen though in a creative sense.

Ben Whiteman – 4

Looked quite lethargic in his first league start since the beginning of January, a few misplaced passes here and there. Night summed up with a red card for a tackle on Ruddock Mpanzu early in the second half.

Ali McCann – 6

Won the ball high up the pitch on a few occasions and was the main man to drive through the middle of the park. No real end product though when the ball was in and around the 18-yard box.

Alvaro Fernandez – 7

The only real player in the team who wanted to drive at the Luton team with pace and guile. Perhaps unlucky to not get an assist in the first half if it wasn’t for the interception of a Luton defender.

Troy Parrott – 6

Finally scored his first Deepdale goal with a penalty and was always trying to make things happen, even if they didn’t come off. Thundered his spot kick in off the crossbar – could be a catalyst for some scoring form.

Tom Cannon – 5

Wasn’t provided with much service on the night, but did have one chance just moments after Parrott’s equaliser with a powerful effort that went just wide. Needs more assistance from midfielders and wing-backs but also didn’t get much change out of Luton’s defenders.
