Manchester City have finally confirmed that captain Fernandinho has extended his contract with the club by a further year.
The Brazil international was set to leave the Etihad at the end of this month with his old deal due to expire.
But at the 11th hour, City have revealed that the 36-year-old will remain with Pep Guardiola’s side until June 2022.
Despite his advancing years, Fernandinho played 36 times last season as City won the Premier League and reached the Champions League final.
