Bild reports that former Liverpool striker Fernando Torres is a name that is circulating linking him to the vacant Schalke head coach role.

The rumours surrounding Torres have been raised after Raúl rejected the chance of returning to the Veltins Arena. The former striker has been said to have unofficially rejected Schalke.

Torres is a name that has been circulating the Veltins in recent days as the head coach of Atletico Madrid B possesses the DNA of a working-class club that director Ben Manga is a fan of and sees as an inspiration for Die Königsblau. However, there is no current indication that Torres even has any interest in moving to Schalke.

Unlike Raúl, Torres never played for a team in the Bundesliga during his career, so the appointment would be a path that a lot of German teams do not like to take.

Another name is interim head coach Jacob Fimpel. He fits the profile which is outlined by Schalke, but their performance in their 2-1 win against Preußen Münster at the weekend did not instil confidence in Fimpel.
