Barry Ferguson and Keith Jackson are certainly keeping us all thoroughly entertained throughout the festive period…

Christmas is a time of cheer and goodwill, and one of the best ways to spread that is through a bit of good old fashioned comedy.

Repeats of old classics on the box such as Only Fools and Horses will give you just that, but our mainstream media can also guarantee you the same remedy with one double act in particular giving Del Boy and Rodney a good run for their money when it comes to tickling the ribs.

The Daily Record chief sports writer Keith Jackson and former Rangers player Barry Ferguson are the duo in question, with both giving us plenty to giggle about in recent weeks.

Keith himself described our recent goalless draw at Tannadice as a ‘mini slump’  and a ‘title wobble’ and declared the title race ‘officially on’ just a few days ago, stop it Keith you’re making us laugh too hard.

The ‘title race’ lasted just a few short days as theRangers lost ground on Boxing Day once more making Keith Jackson look rather foolish and not for the first time.

Wee Barry Ferguson, although not a journalist gives his weekly thoughts to Keith’s paper, and just two weeks ago he declared boldly that the ‘Rangers are back’.

No not the old Rangers, they are of course still confined to the graveyard of footballing history, but the new carnation, who Barry believes are ready to battle Celtic for the title.

Fast forward two weeks and they have lost a cup final, whilst finding themselves 12 points behind the champions. Something that must make Barry feel more dafter than ever.

Here’s to Keith and Barry, a couple of unintentional comedians who are keeping us well entertained throughout the festive period. Long may it continue chaps!
