With Feyenoord’s 2-1 second-leg defeat last night sealing the end of their UEFA Champions League campaign with a 4-1 aggregate, Voetbal International found the time to take stock on the Rotterdam club’s key performers.
Admittedly, the club has been plagued by injuries all season and only one player escaped physical misfortune: Dávid Hancko. The central defender played in all twelve matches, excelled against Manchester City with a goal and achieved the highest average match rating of all with 6.9.
Quinten Timber also received that grade, but the Feyenoord captain played in seven matches. He is out for the rest of this season with a knee injury and therefore missed the away match at AC Milan and the two-legged match with Inter.
Hugo Bueno completes the top three. The left-back on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers played six matches. His average figures from all those appearances together was 6.8. The man with the lowest average based on six Champions League matches was Ayase Ueda. He is the only Feyenoord player who didn’t get a six, achieving a 5.7 rating.
*Players were rated if they played for at least half an hour and were included in the final report for at least six performances.
