Fiorentina midfielder Borja Valero insists he has very fond memories of his time at Inter.

The Spaniard returned to Florence last summer after three seasons playing for the Nerazzurri, in which he made 100 appearances in all competitions and scored five goals.

Inter will be reunited with the 36-year-old tomorrow when they visit Cesare Prandelli’s side in matchday 21 of their Serie A campaign.

“I look back on my time there as being absolutely positive,” Valero told Fanpage ahead of the match at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

“After five years in Florence I tried another experience in a top club and I have to say I’m very satisfied with what I achieved, especially with what happened at the start of last season.

“I was almost out of the squad and then I ended up playing in lots of important games.

“It was a source of real pride for me and it showed me, once again, that you can achieve things when you work well.”

Valero joined Inter in a €5 million deal in the summer of 2017, having reportedly fallen out with Fiorentina’s then sporting director Pantaleo Corvino.

He was instrumental in helping Luciano Spalletti guide the club back into the UEFA Champions League after a six-year absence, making 36 league appearances during his first season in Milan.

The former Real Madrid and Villarreal returned to Fiorentina at the end of last season after Inter opted not to renew his contract.

Valero could start for Fiorentina tomorrow with his fellow midfielder Gaetano Castrovilli ruled out through suspension.
