According to L’Équipe French international Amel Majri brought her nine-month-old daughter, Maryam, to the national team’s gathering at Clairefontaine on Monday. This marks the first time that a player has brought her child to an international team gathering.

Hervé Renard, the new manager of Les Bleues, expressed his delight at Majri’s ability to attend the training camp with her daughter. “It is essential to give structure to players who have young children,” Renard said. “She has a 9-month-old daughter, and it is difficult for a mother to leave her young child at home, even if it is her profession.”

Renard noted that in other teams, such as the United States, arrangements were already in place for players with children. “France is a bit behind,” he admitted. “We need to establish an organised structure with a nanny. It won’t harm the group’s functioning, and psychologically, it’s of paramount importance.”

He added, “To be mentally sound and perform well, it’s important to associate the two. There are improvements to be made in terms of assistance and organisation. We will manage to do what the United States does. Maybe one day we’ll have four or five kids with us, and if it’s well organized, it won’t be a problem.”
