Everton extended their unbeaten run to nine games in the Premier League under David Moyes after they drew 1-1 against West Ham United on Saturday at Goodison Park.

When Moyes took over from Sean Dyche, the Toffees were perilously close to the relegation zone. In such a short time, he has instilled a never-say-die attitude among his players, and the club’s progress has been tremendous.

The fears of relegation have evaporated quickly. Goodison Park is buzzing at the moment. Before bidding farewell to their iconic home, Everton players are doing everything they can to make these moments special.

The injuries to Iliman Ndiaye, Armando Broja, Seamus Coleman and Dominic Calvert-Lewin didn’t dampen the spirit.

Everton have found various ways to score, something the Toffees failed to do regularly under Dyche, where they mainly tried to score from set-pieces.

Moyes has improved every player in such a short time. Here we look at five players who turned it around for Everton.

Jake O’Brien

Dyche hardly used the 23-year-old Irishman, and it felt like Everton made a big mistake by signing him.

In the absence of Nathan Patterson and Coleman, Moyes used him in the right-back role instead of Ashley Young, and he grabbed the opportunity with both hands. He scored against Brentford and West Ham to secure precious points for the Toffees.

Carlos Alcaraz

Everton needed to bolster their forward department, and on the deadline day of the January window, they captured the signing of Carlos Alcaraz on loan from Flamengo.

He was outstanding in the 2-1 win over Crystal Palace and made a big impact in recent games. The 22-year-old nearly grabbed a winner against the Hammers last week, and the Toffees must do everything to sign him permanently in the summer.

Beto

Another player who looked useless under Dyche but has made a massive impact under Moyes. He has scored five goals under Moyes already and has looked like a player reborn.

The former Udinese striker was magnificent against Palace and Manchester United, and Moyes will want him to regain his scoring touch after the international break.

Jordan Pickford

Moyes will be disappointed that his side has not been able to keep many clean sheets during this period, but he should be grateful to have a world-class goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford, in his ranks.

The England goalkeeper has been the epitome of consistency, and he still remains the most valuable asset for the Toffees.

Idrissa Gueye

Gueye provided two assists in the 3-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur and produced top performances against Brighton, Leicester City, Man Utd, Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham.

A shield in front of the back four, he has produced moments of quality going forward when the team needed inspiration.

At 35, with his contract at the club running out, this could be his final season at Everton.
