Ederson’s elite distribution is no secret with the Manchester City goalkeeper regarded as the best in the business with the ball at his feet.

The Brazilian assisted Omar Marmoush’s opener during City’s 4-0 win over Newcastle on Saturday, setting two new records in the process. His assist was the sixth of his Premier League career, more than any other goalkeeper.

Ederson’s assist was incredibly his third of the current campaign with the Citizens having switched up their approach at times this season. No goalkeeper has ever created more goals in a single Premier League campaign, while the 31-year-old is also keeping pace with some elite attacking talent.

Here are five top-class Premier League attackers that Ederson is matching for assists.

Martin Odegaard – Arsenal

Martin Odegaard is regarded as one of the best creative talents in the Premier League but has endured an up-and-down season this time around. After reaching 10 assists in the division last season, he’s managed just three in 2024/25 to date. Odegaard’s three assists have come in 17 appearances – one more than Ederson.

Gabriel Martinelli – Arsenal

Another member of Arsenal’s talented but inconsistent forward line. Gabriel Martinelli has three assists for the Gunners this season with discussions over whether there is a need for an upgrade in production from the left flank. The North Londoners have lacked cutting edge in the absence of the injured Bukayo Saka.

Bryan Mbeumo – Brentford

Bryan Mbeumo has been in brilliant form for Brentford this season with the Cameroonian having stepped up since the sale of Ivan Toney. He has 14 goals for the Bees, the best return of his Premier League career. However, a return of just three assists is down on his numbers from previous campaigns.

Kaoru Mitoma – Brighton

Kaoru Mitoma was in the headlines over the weekend after an incredible goal during Brighton’s big win against Chelsea. The Japan international has found his form in recent weeks with four goals in six games, including that audacious effort at The Amex Stadium on Friday night. He’ll want to up his assist numbers in the coming weeks with just three from 25 league appearances.

Cody Gakpo – Liverpool

Cody Gakpo has nailed down a regular role in the Liverpool team this season to become an important part of Arne Slot’s side. The Dutchman has 16 goals in all competitions, though has created just three goals for his teammates in the Premier League.
