Flamengo have opted to name their strongest possible squad for Monday’s Campeonato Carioca clash at Madureira.

As expected, Rodrigo Caio has recovered fully from his thigh injury and is included in the 24-man squad.

The 27-year-old is likely to start alongside Willian Arão in a novel centre-back partnership.

Should Caio be named in the starting XI, it will be his first appearance since facing São Paulo in the final game of last season’s Brasileirão in February.

The Rubro-Negro came into the weekend level on points with Volta Redondo at the top of the Carioca standings.

However, Fla manager Rogério Ceni will almost certainly have one eye on getting his charges in the best shape possible for next Sunday’s Supercopa do Brasil clash with Palmeiras.
