Kicker report that Florian Grillitsch is on the verge of re-joining Hoffenheim.
The Austria midfielder joined Ajax last summer on a one-year deal and is now available on a free transfer after the Dutch club decided against using the two-year option in Grillitsch’s contract. Per the report, Grillitsch is now expected to complete a return to Sinsheim, signing a three-year contract at TSG.
Grillitsch played just 623 minutes across 18 games in all competitions for Ajax last season and failed to establish himself within the squad. The Austrian would become Hoffenheim’s second signing after the arrival of Paderborn’s Julian Justvan for a reported €1.5m.
After joining Hoffenheim originally from Werder Bremen in 2017, Grillitsch played 151 games across all competitions before joining Ajax. A defensive-midfielder by trade, the Austria international also found himself playing a central-role in a back three.
Hoffenheim are also in talks to sign Marius Bülter (Schalke) and Derrick Köhn (Hannover), whilst Nadiem Amiri (Bayer Leverkusen) could be another player to return to the club this summer.
