John Terry has shared his thoughts on the Club World Cup with Chelsea set to take part in the revamped competition this summer.
The Blues secured their place in the 32 team competition having won the Champions League in 2021, with the tournament set to take place in the United States between June 14th and July 15th.
Chelsea have been drawn in Group C alongside Mexican side Club Leon, Brazilian outfit Flamengo and Esperance de Tunis of Tunisia.
The competition coming after a gruelling season isn’t ideal, and if the Blues make the Conference League final at the end of May, there’s very little preparation time before the start of the competition.
Chelsea expect Enzo Maresca to go on a deep run in the tournament, despite a number of Europe’s heavyweight clubs taking part, and Terry has now shared this thoughts on the tournament.

“I like it. I think what Gianni [Infantino] is doing is incredible. I think what he’s trying to do is give people a real chance from across the world to go and compete against some of the top teams,” he said as cited on X.com.
“Having a big squad is going to enable us (Chelsea) to take a big squad over there. So I understand there’s a lot of games, the season is long, but also for players it’s important to want to go and win these trophies as well.
“For Chelsea Football Club, we have an opportunity to take some players to get a lot of experience, but also to go win the trophy. Hopefully we can do that.”

It will be a great opportunity for Chelsea to test themselves against some of Europe’s elite given they aren’t currently participating in the Champions League, with Terry claiming the Blues should be in the competition every season as a minimum requirement.
It also represents another chance at silverware, although the Blues would have to go on some run and take some big scalps if they are to get their hands on the trophy this summer.
