An out-of-favour member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid is expected to remain a member of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for next season.

That’s according to Marca, who point towards Jesús Vallejo as the player in question.

Defender Vallejo, for his part, is fresh off yet another temporary spell away from Spain’s capital, on this occasion with Granada.

A difficult campaign, which saw his efforts hampered by a host of fitness issues, however, saw the 27-year-old manage a paltry three appearances.

Some way short of enough to convince the powers that be at parent club Real Madrid of his readiness to contribute for next season, the widespread expectation, in turn, was that Florentino Pérez and co. would seek out a permanent sale for Vallejo before the summer is out.

But developments across the week to date have culminated in a major change in the situation…

As per a report from Marca, it is now considered as ‘highly unlikely’ that Vallejo will be moved on.

As much comes owing to Los Blancos’ predicted signing of Lille sensation Leny Yoro falling through in altogether sudden fashion.

The 18-year-old, long considered a priority target in Madrid, has opted to put pen to paper on terms with Premier League heavyweights Manchester United.

With Real having no plans in place to bring in an alternative target, and Nacho having of course moved on, too, Vallejo has therefore been bumped up the pecking order in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.
