Former Arsenal goalkeeper Sarah Bouhaddi has joined Saudi Women’s First Division League club Al-Ula FC on a free transfer.

Al-Ula FC announced the news via a post on their official club X account earlier today.

The 37-year-old veteran stopper moves to Saudi Arabia after leaving former club Arsenal at the end of last season.

Bouhaddi spent the second half of last season with The Gunners after joining the club in the January transfer window. The player provided vital cover for first-choice Arsenal goalkeeper Manuela Zinsberger. Bouhaddi made no competitive appearances for The Gunners but she did feature for the North Londoners in their post-season tour match against the A-League All Stars in Australia. She played the first hour as Arsenal recorded a 1-0 victory.

The former French international keeper is a much-decorated player in the game. In more than a decade with Lyon, Bouhaddi won 11 league titles, eight UEFA Women’s Champions Leagues and eight domestic cups. She has also been capped by her country on 149 occasions throughout her long career.

Bouhaddi’s new club Al-Ula FC were Saudi Women’s First Division League champions in 2023/2024. The Saudi league is a competition that has been growing over the past couple of seasons. Bouhaddi will undoubtedly bring more spotlight on the league this season.
