FC Barcelona are still working to find various avenues that would allow them to generate even more revenue. Due to their current limitations, the club has been facing a lot of difficulties in regards to signings and even registering their players. However, what Barcelona has managed to do so far is insufficient in terms of improving their current conditions.
The sale of VIP seats is a method that La Blaugrana have primarily looked towards, and club president Joan Laporta has even made a lot of progress towards that end. However, the club still needs to generate more revenue and player sales have been highlighted as a possible solution.
Interestingly, however, it seems that Barcelona could end up securing some additional revenue from an unexpected source. According to MARCA, Las Palmas defender Mika Marmol is currently being looked at by Serie A side Roma and it could lead to Barcelona potentially making a few extra millions.
A former Barcelona player, Marmol has a 50% sell-on clause attached in his current contract. Despite no longer being a player for the Catalan giants, the Spaniard could still be source of revenue for his former club. Moreover, with Roma reportedly thinking of making an offer worth €7 million, it could be a significant one as well.
So far this season, Marmol initially started off as a regular starter for Las Palmas. However, an unfortunate injury kept the 23-year-old defender sidelined for a while and eventually led to him losing prominence by the time he returned. However, he has since made a place for himself at the left-back position, where he has played his last four games.
It remains to be seen if the interest from Roma materializes into something concrete, but this would not be the first time that an Italian side would be interested in his services. Previously, Como was also reportedly interested in Marmol’s services, and that side is currently led by former Barcelona player Cesc Fabregas. According to this report, moreover, they still keep that interest intact despite their inability to pursue his talents successfully last time.
