Thiago also took time to speak about Barcelona’s crown jewel—17-year-old sensation Lamine Yamal. Rather than weigh the youngster down with expectations, he stressed the importance of nurturing him with patience and care.

“We don’t have to put a ceiling on him, so he can continue to develop. We have to give him the tools to be consistent in the incredible thing he is,” he noted, clearly impressed by the winger’s maturity and talent.

It was not just Yamal who caught Thiago’s eye. He heaped praise on Pau Cubarsi and Eric Garcia, pointing out their astonishing maturity given their age.

“They’re at a top level. It’s incredible,” he said. In midfield, it was the familiar brilliance of Pedri and the resurgence of Frenkie de Jong that drew attention.

“De Jong has once again made that leap in quality,” Thiago observed. “The truth is, the whole team surprises you,” he concluded.
