Sudinfo are reporting that Mersad Selimbegovic is set to take over as head coach of Eupen. The former Hansa Rostock and Jahn Regensburg head coach will succeed Florian Kohfeldt, who left the side after he believed he could not keep them in the top flight. He was proven right, as the side were relegated to the second tier of Belgian football. Eupen did not move to immediately replace Kohfeldt, which highlighted the surprise factor in his resignation as they believed he would stick it out until the end of the season.

Selimbegovic himself experienced a relegation last season. He took over at Hansa Rostock in the 2 Bundesliga in December 2023, but was unable to keep them from being relegated down to the 3 Liga. This was a second relegation for the head coach, who, despite a few good seasons, saw his Jahn Regensburg side relegated from the second to the third tier of German football. Eupen fans will hope that he can at least keep them in the Challenger Pro League this season, as signings have been few and far between so far this summer.
