Miguel Gutierrez has been one of many fullbacks linked with a move to Real Madrid in the recent past, in light of the club’s injury struggles.

A product of La Fabrica, Gutierrez has enjoyed tremendous success since joining Girona in 2022. In three years, he has already racked up over 110 competitive appearances for the Catalan outfit.

Gutierrez’s performances have also been impressive, which is why Real Madrid were reportedly considering the idea of bringing him back to Santiago Bernabeu.

However, in recent days, Gutierrez was linked with a shock move to Atletico Madrid, who are also looking to reinfroce their options in the left-back position.

Atleti move ruled out for Gutierrez

But as per fresh report from Rodra P, Gutierrez’s potential move to the Metropolitano has been ruled out.

This is primarily because due to the player’s own preference. It appears Gutierrez has no intention of joining Los Rojiblancos, effectively ruling out any potential move to the Metropolitano this summer.

Atletico had been monitoring him for over a year and even made inquiries again this season. However, when Girona informed them of the price tag-around €20 million-the interest cooled.

The fact that Real Madrid still hold 50% of his rights also complicated the deal, as any transfer fee would be split with their rivals.

For Real Madrid, the Spaniard remains a player of interest. The club have been actively tracking his progress and has the option to bring him back for just €8 million, thanks to a buy-back clause.

In addition, Los Blancos have a 48-hour right of first refusal if Girona accepts any bid from another club. Therefore, it will be interesting to see what’s in store for the left-back’s future this summer.
