During the hearing, the footballer, who most recently played for Monaco, stated that he could not remember anything about the offence.

As well as the two-year suspended prison sentence, the Frenchman will receive a €5000 fine, a 6-month suspension on his driving license, and he will be ordered to pay compensation to the victim totalling €6500.

Ben Yedder spent three seasons in La Liga, where he played for Sevilla, scoring 70 goals in 138 games and was part of the side which finished runner-up in the 2017-18 Copa del Rey.

This sentence is in addition to several other legal issues which the Frenchman is facing, as he is currently facing another sexual assault case as well as a case surrounding alleged violence against his wife.
