OH Leuven have made a surprising appointment as their new head coach. Former Wales, Sunderland and Fulham manager Chris Coleman has signed a deal until 2026. The head coach had recently been in charge of AEL Limassol in the Cypriot league but left the side three days ago. He had only taken over at the club in the summer but clearly felt tempted to move to Belgium to take over from Oscar Garcia as head coach of OH Leuven.

Coleman had his greatest success as head coach of Wales between 2012 and 2017, helping the side qualify for major tournaments. He struggled to keep Sunderland up following his depature from the Welsh national team and has since managed a number of clubs. Prior to joining AEL he had been in charge of Greek side Atromitos Athens.

Coleman takes over a side that has been underperforming this season and the club will hope his experience will be enough to turn things around. He was certainly not a name that many would have expected and rumours have surfaced that the side had originally agreed a deal with another head coach, who ended up taking a different job before signing.

Coleman will be in the stands s the side face Anderlecht at home on Sunday afternoon.
