Troy Parrott has experienced an incredible start to life at AZ Alkmaar. The Ireland international made a permanent switch from Tottenham to AZ during the summer, and has since made a huge impact on their unbeaten start to the season. On Saturday night the 22-year-old struck four times as AZ cruised to a 9-1 victory over Robin van Persie’s Heerenveen.

Sven Mijnans opened the scoring for the hosts just four minutes into the match. The 24-year-old struck from the edge of the area with help form the left post. Less than 20 minutes later, moments after Heerenveen equalised through Luuk Brouwers, the Troy Parrott party started. His first goal, a close range tap-in set up sublimely by Ibrahim Sadiq. Three minutes into the second half it was Sadiq again who set up Parrott for his second in similar style to the first. Right place, right time from the forward.

Just two minutes later he claimed his hat-trick, receiving the ball 12-yards from goal before finding the bottom right corner. Less than six minutes later, with 56 minutes on the clock, Troy Parrott found the back of the net again. This time with an excellent run into the area before finding the bottom left corner. A truly remarkable performance.

To top all of that off, Ibrahim Sadiq, Mexx Meerdink, Kristijan Belic and Zico Buurmeester also found the back of the net to top off an emphatic victory for Maarten Martens side. AZ Alkmaar end the day second in the Eredivisie table, whilst plenty of questions will be asked of Robin van Persie.
