Liverpool secured the 2024/25 Premier League title with a comprehensive 5-1 mullering of Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield.

The Reds defied the unfavourable odds at the beginning of the season to clinch their 20th English top-flight title and equal Manchester United’s record.

Manager Arne Slot did a superb job after filling the massive boots of Jurgen Klopp.

Slot became only the fifth manager to win the league in his first season and the first Dutchman to clinch the title.

With this season done and dusted, Liverpool must start looking towards next term as they bid to continue their dominance.

The Reds will be hoping to secure successive league titles for the first time since 1984, and giving Slot the right tools in the transfer market will be key.

Slot navigated this season without any marquee signing, but the 46-year-old will need more backing ahead of next season.

Read on as we look at four areas where the Reds need reinforcement if they want to challenge for the league title and more next term.

Signing a Darwin Nunez replacement

Liverpool won the title without a lethal centre-forward. Diogo Jota endured another injury-blighted campaign while Darwin Nunez’s profligacy in front of goal continued.

The Reds could use more firepower up top, and sporting director Richard Hughes should be scouring the market for a top-calibre centre-forward to lead the line.

Liverpool have reportedly looked at Julian Alvarez (Atletico Madrid), Alexander Isak (Newcastle United), and Hugo Ekitike (Eintracht Frankfurt).

The Reds have yet to settle on a top summer striking target.

They must identify the right profile. Someone with the clinical edge Nunez often lacked, but who also fits the high-intensity, fluid attacking style.

Adding steel to the engine room

Ryan Gravenberch was a revelation as a holding midfielder this season, but Liverpool need a specialist in the team to allow him to play in a more attacking position.

It was a priority for the club last summer, but the Reds failed with a move for Martin Zubimendi, who is now on his way to Arsenal.

Liverpool need another holding midfielder who can add steel to the engine room. Someone to screen the defence, break up opposition attacks, and help in the first phase.

Surprisingly, it has been quiet on this front, but Liverpool will know that bringing in another midfielder should be high on their priority list.

Moving on from Trent Alexander-Arnold

Liverpool fans may dread it, but it is clear Trent Alexander-Arnold is leaving the club this summer on a free transfer, and they need someone who can adeptly replace him.

The 26-year-old is arguably the best in the world in his position, and perhaps any potential signing will feel like a downgrade.

However, they must secure a right-back to provide competition for Conor Bradley.

The Merseysiders were reportedly eyeing Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong, but interest in the Dutchman has cooled.

So has talks about moves for Lutsharel Geertruida and Tottenham Hotspur ace Pedro Porro.

Quentin Merlin (Marseille), Anthony Caci (Mainz), Vanderson (Monaco) and Tino Livramento (Newcastle) are a few names that should be on the Liverpool wishlist.

Finding a successor for Andy Robertson

Andy Robertson has not been at his vivacious best over the past two seasons, and Liverpool need to get a successor, especially with Kostas Tsimikas leaving.

They have eyes on AFC Bournemouth man Milos Kerkez, who has a £45 million release clause. But they face competition from Chelsea and Real Madrid.

Kerkez has been a standout in the Premier League this season, helping the Cherries to reach a record 50 points (so far).

The 21-year-old has recorded two goals and five assists in 34 league appearances, helping to keep eight clean sheets.

He is the perfect signing for the left-back spot, and Hughes, formerly of Bournemouth, should be able to get this one over the line.
