Marcus Thuram showed clear signs of rust and a lack of fitness in yesterday’s Serie A draw between Napoli and Inter Milan.

The Frenchman received poor scores in the player ratings for the match, as TuttoMercatoWeb highlight. Under the microscope was his lack of sharpness and explosivity.

Marcus Thuram was the most notable name on the Inter Milan teamsheet yesterday.

The 27-year-old had been absent for a couple matches due to injury. He had sat out matches against Genoa in Serie A and Lazio in the Coppa Italia while recovering from an ankle problem.

Even before then, Thuram had evidently been far from his best in a substitute appearance against Juventus.

Thuram had all but forced himself to play in that match. But unfortunately, he was not able to put in a very convincing display due to the injury still hampering him.

Naturally, Inter will have hoped that Marcus Thuram would have put those physical problems behind him.

However, it was fairly evident yesterday that he had not in fact done so.

It was a somewhat leggy performance from the former Borussia Monchengladbach.

There was one dangerous run in which Napoli defender Amir Rrahmani probably should have gone into the book for scything Thuram down.

But apart from that, the Napoli backline contained Thuram without any real problems.

The Frenchman was unable to really accelerate and make space for himself. Not could he use his strength or positioning to hold up the ball.
