A ruthless French team continued their European Championship preparation with a thrashing of Vietnam as Marie-Antoinette Katoto capped off a fine week with a goal and an assist.
Scorers: Cascarino 5′, Diani 11′, 45+1′, Toletti 16′, Katoto 22′, Matéo 33′, Tounkara 68′
Les Bleues played like a side with a point to prove, coming flying out of the blocks and taking the lead within five minutes. A swift move down the right-hand side ended with Kadidiatou Diani’s back-post cross finished off by Delphine Cascarino.
Diani turned scorer five minutes later with her 17th international goal, as she cut in from the left before firing low at the near post having been set up by Sandie Toletti.
Keeping the theme running it was Toletti’s turn to get a goal to add to her assist as she stroked home Clara Matéo’s low cross.
Katoto, who recently extended her contract with Paris Saint-Germain, would get on the scoresheet six minutes later as the right side continued to cause problems for Vietnam.
Rising highest, Katoto planted her header into the ground and beyond the diving Tran Thi Kim Thanh.
The 23-year-old PSG striker then set up Matéo to make it five before Diani scored her second to give the French a 6-0 half-time lead.
As you would expect, the tempo died down a little in the second period as both teams made a host of changes.
Atlético Madrid defender Aïssatou Tounkara would add a seventh and final goal as France keep their momentum going ahead of this summer’s tournament.
