OGC Nice manager Franck Haise today revealed the possibly of a further year of club captain Dante (41) at the club during his pre-match press conference before Les Aiglons face Reims on Saturday. In quotes transcribed by RMC Sport, the Nice manager told the press “He is free to commit to Nice,” with a smile. When asked whether he is referring to contract extension, Haise responded “I have my own idea. I can’t say more than that. My idea is shared.”
“I only saw him from a distance and I quickly understood from the very first sessions why he was at this level. I don’t see any decline at all in his ability to keep up and recover,” added Haise on Dante, who turned 41 back in October. “He’s keen to do another year, certainly his last. I’d like it to be with OGC Nice.”The Brazilian has been an emblematic part of Nice since joining in 2016 . He has gone on to make 295 appearances with Les Aiglons, and played 32 out of last season’s 34 matches in the top flight. Despite an injury which saw him out of action from October to December with a knee problem, Dante returned to action with Nice during a win over win over Stade Rennais (3-2) on 3rd January.
