Manchester City continue to find themselves some distance off from the demands set out by Eintracht Frankfurt for Omar Marmoush, according to reports in Germany.
The Premier League champions are eyeing a move for the Egyptian forward and some reports have suggested that a deal for the 25-year-old is now their primary target for the ongoing January transfer window.
Interest in Marmoush accompanies two other players of interest from across Europe and South America, as Manchester City look to strengthen their defensive unit with two new centre-backs from Lens and Palmeiras.
Uzbek defender Abdukodir Khusanov is expected to hold a valuation in the region of around £30 million, whilst Brazilian youth international Vitor Reis is valued by Manchester City in the region of £25 million.
The completion of all three deals could see Manchester City exceed a £100 million spend this month, in a clear change of direction from previous January market strategies, with the price demanded for Marmoush outlined in Germany this week.
According to the information of Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, while Eintracht Frankfurt have now been informed by Manchester City that they want to sign Omar Marmoush immediately, the Bundesliga club are currently demanding around €80 million.
Crucially, it is once again reaffirmed that there is no release clause in the Egyptian’s contract in Germany, and any offers that are deemed to be ‘significantly below’ the aforementioned valuation will be ‘rejected outright’.
From the side of Manchester City and Omar Marmoush’s representatives, it is claimed that both parties consider a transfer fee of between €50 million and €60 million to be ‘more realistic’.
For now, Manchester City will keep their on-field focusses as strong as ever, with plenty to compete for across competitions despite a hugely damaging run of 13 matches over the last three months that saw the club record just one win.
Club officials will obviously be hopeful that any new signings this month could have more than just an impact on the pitch, and that their additions into the squad will lift the dressing room as a whole.
Particularly when it comes to Omar Marmoush, the Egyptian will make up for the loss of Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid last summer, when the Argentine World Cup winner brought an end to a two-year stay with Manchester City in a €90 million package exit.
