As expected Arsenal have started on a strong note after the international break. After a 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest, Mikel Arteta’s side smashed Sporting CP by 5-1 in the Champions League and made a clear statement for the rest of the teams.

The Gunners will next lock horns with West Ham United in the Premier League this weekend. They would like to collect all three points before heading into the fixture with Manchester United the following week.

Defence

David Raya made some important saves against Sporting CP to keep the scoreline tight. He will once again be operating between the sticks. Jurrien Timber is the only real option available at the right-back position amid the injury to Takehiro Tomiyasu.

The Gunners would be hoping to have Gabriel Magalhaes’ services. The centre-back suffered a late knock in the Champions League game and is doubtful. Should he be available, he will form the heart of the defence alongside William Saliba.

Left-back Riccardo Calafiori didn’t have his best display but he is expected to continue in the lineup.

Midfield

The injuries have been clearing up at Arsenal, allowing Mikel Arteta to field a regular 4-3-3 formation.

The manager is likely to go with his full-strength midfield consisting of the likes of Thomas Partey, Declan Rice, and Martin Odegaard.

Attack

Bukayo Saka remains an automatic pick in the offensive line for the right-flank role while Gabriel Martinelli should also start on the other side of the pitch.

Gabriel Jesus could be seen leading the line once again like he did against Nottingham Forest. It also means Kai Havertz will start on the bench and have fresh legs for the Manchester United clash.

Ben White is the confirmed absentee, who is out for a long period due to a knee injury.
