This must surely be one of the most remarkable statistics in football history?
Founded in 1873, Gainsborough Trinity have been in the same division – the English National League North – for their entire history.
That’s 145 years of never having been relegated or promoted.
But on Saturday, that run finally came to an end.
Lee Sinnott’s side lost 3-2 to Telford United, which saw them officially sent down to the EvoStik Northern Premier League.
Here’s hoping they can bounce straight back up.
