Galatasaray Not Resigned to Losing Napoli Star Osimhen

Victor Osimhen is in for another busy summer, and Galatasaray haven’t abandoned all hopes of retaining him following a majestic season, despite his lofty price tag. The striker recently hinted that he’d head elsewhere (via Tuttosport).
“I’m enjoying all of this now. The fans supported me in an incredible way. Not just me, but also my teammates and my family. We’ll make the best decision for everybody. This team will stay forever in my heart.”
Galatasaray vice president Ibrahim Hatipoglu rebutted that it’s not a sure thing already that Osimhen will play for another team in 2025/2026 in an interview with AS (via Mediaset).
“His words don’t mean that he’ll depart. He just said that, should he go, in the worst-case scenario, he’ll remember us forever. He hasn’t told us that he’ll flee, and we want him to stay here.”
The marksman has recorded 29 goals in 33 matches this campaign. The Turkish club took advantage of a long back-and-forth and a botched transfer to Saudi Arabia to snap him up on loan after the window had closed in Europe. They didn’t obtain an option to buy.
However, the center-forward has a €75/80M release clause. If he’s not sold by June 2025, Napoli will be able to activate a clause to prolong his contract until 2027, potentially sending him out on temporarily again if they don’t find an offer they like.
Stranger things have happened, and it seemed a long shot last year already, but it was a decent outcome for everybody in the end. Surely, the sooner the saga ends, the better it is for the Partenopei.
