AC Milan secured three important points in their quest to try get in the Champions League places as they beat Empoli 2-0 away from home on Saturday night.

After a tough first half, the game was flung wide open after the break when Fikayo Tomori and Luca Marianucci were each given red cards.

Milan’s attacking changes made the difference, with Christian Pulisic setting up Rafael Leao for the opening goal and then Santiago Gimenez for his first for the club.

The end result was an important victory, especially with teams around not dropping points as of yet, but consistency is what must follow.

La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Gimenez immediately. Milan fly with the fantastic four. The Mexican and Leao enter Empoli in the second half, with Pulisic they join Joao Felix and score the two winning goals.”

Corriere dello Sport: “Leao and Gimenez light up Milan. Colombo hits the post. Tomori and Marianucci sent off. The turning point in the end: 7 points in 3 games.”

Tuttosport: “Courage and talent: new Milan! The January reinforcements have an impact, Conceicao without fear despite the (paradoxical) red card for Tomori: Leao and Gimenez enter in the second half and, after the red card also for Marianucci, bring the Rossoneri back into the European zone.”

QS: “It’s already Gimenez’s Milan. Tomori sent off, Leao and the Mexican win over Empoli.”
