Monza CEO Adriano Galliani has ruled out the idea of Daniel Maldini leaving in the January window but suggested than the summer could be a different situation.

Several Italian sides are watching Maldini’s growth with great interest. Atalanta, Inter, Milan, Juventus and also Fiorentina were named in a recent report, and his call-ups to Luciano Spalletti’s Italy national team demonstrate the development of the forward.

There are two release clauses in Maldini’s current deal: one worth €12m for Italian clubs and the other €15m for teams abroad. However, they are not valid for the winter transfer window, only for the summer one, while the other clause of note is Milan’s 50% resale.

Galliani spoke about Maldini’s future during an event that Monza put on. He was asked about the potential for movement when the window reopens in January, with MilanNews relaying his comments.

“We must not think about the mercato now, we must think about getting points until January. Then we will see about the market,” he said.

“Maldini is a player with great potential who is growing and can still improve a lot. In January there is no clause: he will end the season with Monza, then we will see about next year.”
