Gian Piero Gasperini is expected to depart Atalanta after 9 years.
Last night, Gasperini made official his decision not to renew with Atalanta: “I will not extend the contract, we will see whether it expires in 2026 or I leave in June.”
A choice that makes him one of the most sought-after coaches on the market and that could open the door to a possible future on the Roma bench, reports Il Messaggero.
Claudio Ranieri has great respect for the Atalanta coach, considering him the ideal profile to start a project based on solid tactical ideas and targeted investments.
Gasperini was linked to Napoli a year ago and in 2019 he rejected Roma, as did Antonio Conte.
Today, however, the conditions could have changed. The future of the Giallorossi bench remains an unknown.
Among the names being evaluated are emerging profiles such as Francesco Farioli and Vincenzo Italiano, but also more experienced options such as Maurizio Sarri or even a return of José Mourinho.
Ranieri, meanwhile, is in no hurry and is waiting for the evolution of events, with the awareness that Roma could decide to focus on him again as an emergency solution.
