A frustrating night for FC Barcelona ends in a draw when they could have done much better. Right when a win would have given them a six point lead at the top of the table, Hansi Flick’s men failed to capitalize. Ultimately, a 1-1 draw is all Barcelona could muster against Real Betis.

An early goal from Gavi was cancelled out by Real Betis scoring a goal from a corner, and that was about it for the game. Apart from that, La Blaugrana seemed to be out of ideas for most of the game and without energy as well.

Here are the player ratings for the Barcelona players.

Player Ratings:

Wojciech Szczesny: 6.5

Did not have much to do but made a few decent saves here and there. Possibly could have reacted better for the goal scored by Real Betis but even that is a bit of a stretch.

Jules Kounde: 7.0

Solid game from the Frenchman who did not do much wrong. Made good runs and kept tracking back to provide defensive cover as well. Solid outing for him.

Ronald Araujo: 6.5

Made some important interventions and was decisive in winning most of the duels. However, his poor marking on a certain corner allowed Real Betis to score their only goal of the game.

Pau Cubarsi: 7.0

Decent performance from the Spaniard, who did not do any wrong and did not let Real Betis get comfortable when attacking. Also completed the most passes in the game.

Alejandro Balde: 5.5

Active in terms of tracking back, but his positioning was frustrating at times to watch. Moreover, he was way too predictable when carrying the ball forward and Real Betis did not have much trouble in containing him.

Frenkie de Jong: 6.5

Seemed quite eager to make a difference in this game, but Frenkie de Jong was out of sync with some other teammates. A few of his dummies and fakes ended up leading to counter-attacks, and he seemed to be second-guessing his own decisions at times. Was good at linking up play when dropping deep, however.

Pedri: 7.0

Attempted quite a few wayward balls over the top that came to nothing, and looked a bit lost for ideas at times. His control and technique were both great, but the final pass needed to be better most of the time. Made some decent chances, however.

Lamine Yamal: 6.0

Undoubtedly a rather sluggish performance from the youngster, who looked tired to say the least. His decision-making was definitely not the sharpest tonight, and it was clear to see that he was struggling to make an impact here. Did well to create an opening for the first goal, however.

Gavi: 8.0

Arguably the brightest player for Barcelona on the pitch tonight, he even scored the first goal for the team early on. His runs were good, and his energy was definitely one of the only reasons Barça managed to stay in the game.

Ferran Torres: 7.5

An active game from Ferran Torres, who was one of the more energetic and effective players in the first half. His passing was crisp, and it even allowed him to provide the assist to Gavi for his opening goal.

Robert Lewandowski: 6.0

Yet again a game where the Polish veteran’s lack of movement and runs in behind let both him down and the team as well. Unlike Ferran Torres, he did not possess the speed to help break open the Betis structure and that enabled them to hold off Barça way too easily.

Substitutes:

Eric Garcia: 7.0

Solid substitute, and one that brought some intensity to the midfield. He allowed Barcelona to win more duels and get the ball back as quickly as possible.

Raphinha: 6.0

Was good at making runs and looked more and more dangerous as the game went on. Perhaps he could have had a bigger impact had he started the game from minute one.

Gerard Martin: 6.0

Did well defensively and proved to be much more capable of creating something compared to Balde’s predictable movements in this game.

Fermin Lopez: 7.0

Arguably the most impactful substitute, Fermin Lopez added some much-needed intensity. He also showcased good decision-making and got the team running again.
